内容摘要

Elastomers are usually reinforced and employed widely because of their extensive and potential applications. The use of nanosized fillers like graphene in the development of rubber composite material have become a fascinating area of research because of the dramatic improvement it can produce in the properties at very low filler content and also because of the possibility of tailoring the properties to meet the demands in versatile industrial applications. The excellent combination of different super physical properties like Young’s modulus (1TPa)[1],ultimate strength (130GPa)[2], electrical conductivity (600S/cm)[3],thermal conductivity (5000W/Mk)[4]etc. which is not known to be usual to other materials, makes graphene, one of the promising nanofillers for elastomer reinforcement. In this review presentation, the recentadvancesin the fabrication of graphene based elastomer nanocompositesdone in our group will be discussed. Thework will be focused on the effect of graphene oxide based natural rubber andchlorobutyl composites for various applications like EMI shielding, barrierproperty enhancement etc. The dependence of this thinnest known material, especiallyin the electrical, mechanical dielectric and barrier properties will be discussedalong with detailed examples drawn from the scientific literature. Differentrubbers have been used to fabricate graphene filled elastomer nanocomposites. Natureof rubber, graphene functionalization etc. could impart noticeable improvementin the mechanical, dielectric and barrier properties.[5],[6],[7]
