Christoph Stampfer is full professor for experimental physics and head of the 2nd Institute of Physics A at the RWTH Aachen University. He studied electrical engineering and technical physics at the Vienna University of Technology in Austria. He completed his doctorate in micro and nanosystems technology in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich (Switzerland). Later he took up a position as a postdoc in the nanophysics group at the Department of Physics at ETH Zurich, where he conducted pioneering experiments on graphene nanostructures. Since 2009, Christoph Stampfer has been researching as a JARA-FIT professor at RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich, where he focuses on carbon-based nanoelectronics. He holds an ERC Starting Grant to work on "Graphene Quantum Electromechanical Systems" and he is partner of the EU Graphene Flagship.
