Prof. Liangti Qu as a researcher is mainly involved in the advanced functional materials, nanomaterials, electrochemistry and nanodevices. He is also engaged in controlled synthesis, functionalization, assembly and application of nanomaterials with carbon-carbon conjugated structures including carbon nanotubes, graphenes and conducting polymers. He has received his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University (2004). He has also served as a research Assistant at University of Dayton, USA (2004-2009). He is employed as a full-fledged professor at School of Chemistry, Beijing Institute of Technology. He has approximately three dozens of publications in his name.

The physical and chemical characteristics of functional graphene structures are closely related to their dimensionality and therefore novel properties could potentially emerge from the dimensional confinement and/or benefit. In this regard, we have focused on development of new method and techniques for dimension-tailed fabrications of functional graphene architectures. Zero-dimensional (0D) graphene quantum dots, macroscopic 1D graphene fibers, 2D graphene films and 3D graphene frameworks have been systematically prepared through various strategies such as electrochemical cutting and dimension-confined assembly. New properties and unconventional applications of dimension-defined graphene structures in energy-conversion and -storage devices have been revealed. This work will present the new insight on the graphene manufacture based on the dimensionality for practical applications.
